The world is big and restless. People rush from train to desk to bed and back again. We keep walking – no pause, no break – until we hit either home or work. Was this the plan all along? Were we meant to run the same rat race or to build our own – one with a warm home, a family to come back to, peace, and sleep that arrives on time?
Lately, all I notice is the constant hum of hurry. And then a small story reminded me why I believe in this movement called destiny.
A friend of mine got a call out of the blue from a well-known company. He’d forgotten he’d even applied – a year ago. He took the interview, showed up as himself, and landed the job. When people asked, “How did that happen?” he just shrugged. Destiny, maybe. Right place, right time, right call. Sometimes life arrives exactly when you stop waiting at the door. I remember the year I heard nothing back – and then the email that changed everything.
I’m a firm believer in destiny. If something didn’t happen, it wasn’t meant for you – either because you’re worth more than you think or because the timing isn’t ripe yet. Destiny has a plan. I’ve seen people cry with joy at the unexpected and break down over the expected. As a kid, I learned, “Work hard and you’ll get everything.” As an adult, I have learned to “work smart.” I did both. Over time, I realized: effort matters, but timing is undefeated. No one gets more – or earlier – than what’s written for them.
You might disagree, and that’s okay. I’m not here asking you to change your beliefs. But when you try closing your eyes and scroll through your own flashbacks. Notice the things that weren’t supposed to happen but somehow did – and ended up working out. Notice the seasons you walked alone, ran alone, and lived alone. Maybe it was all part of the map you couldn’t see yet. If it hasn’t happened for you, perhaps the clock hasn’t struck.
What I believe remains simple:
“Waqt se pehle aur qismat se zyada kabhi kisiko nahi milta.”
(No one receives anything before its time or beyond their destiny.)
So don’t ask, “Why was I born?” Your life has meaning. You’re already moving towards it – even on days that feel still. There is a plan. What’s meant for you will always find you. Let timing catch up.
