An unassuming short walk down the hill through deodar and cedar forest leads you to our bright; mindfully designed cafe that incorporates clouds, mountains, and the more than usual rainbows as a part of its overall vibe. A cafe in the woods that serves soul-satisfying food like Affogato or Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani while you enjoy the views of mountains and Himachal’s villages. Nestled on the ridge of a mountain that looks at the east, watching the moonrise from here is an experience in itself, especially when there’s fresh snow on the mountains and the Bukhari(traditional space heater)is on to keep you warm.
As a brand, the focus has always been on incorporating elements from around us, be it in design or food. From using locally sourced seasonal produce like plums to make fresh jams and fruit compotes; to using dead apple tree branches as chandeliers, we’ve always tried to incorporate elements that are native to this place and tried to build things from scratch. Gelatos, pasta, or our interiors, we’ve always loved the idea of handmade.
Being in the mountains is a tranquil experience that lets us slow down and immerse ourselves in the present moment and Kahaani is a space that tries to be reflective of that. With meditative geometry, coloring books, and comfortable seating you can spend hours either with yourself or a group of your very special friends.
